Maya 7 Image Plane Set-up

Hi,

I want to use a specific front and side image for 'image planes' to help in constructing a head mesh (in Maya). I have imported a .jpg into PhotoShop for sizing but I am unable to get the result I want. The image imported is an entire page out of a book and what I want to do is cut out just a piece of this page, the 'square' image of a front view, and create a .jpg file that will simply paste into an image plane that I can turn on and off for modeling reference. I then need to do the same with a side view and have the two views reconcile. How do I accomplish this?

Thanks!

~S.~
