| Registered User | help transiting from 3dsmax to maya hi, I am new to maya & trying to get my feet wet on maya 5.0 learning edition. Since I have been working with 3dsmax I tend to find similar things in maya. One of the things that I would like to know is.........is there no way in maya to draw primitives other than the origin by dragging with the mouse........as is the case in 3dsmax. Its difficult to think in terms of x,y & z coordinates for positioning & awakward to drag the primitive all the way from the origin. can someone please help. regards, sachin. |

Rep Power: 10 ![]() | I am not so sure I understand your question completely, but the way you create a primitive in maya is in the create menu, once you click on a primitive in the menu, the object will appear in your viewport, you dont drag your mouse in the viewport to create the primitive in maya. I hope this is helpful in any way. :) |

Rep Power: 0 ![]() | hi.. well this is a problem that all max users face in maya.. i also faced the same problem when i swirched to maya after using max for almost 2 years.. the primitives r created on origin by default and then u have to drag or align them to the desired place.. thats something u'll have to get used to.. to some some extent we dop the same thing in max also as after creating a primitive we have to align it .. so its more or less the same .. regards uttam |
