Question Add a face between vertex without extrude?

Hey guys!

Could you please help me? I'm quite new to this 3D and because of this I have some maybe from your view seen, stupit questions.

My question is: Can I add a face between vertexes without extruding and then connecting points? This would save a lot of trouble and time for me.

Please help. I'm currently working in MAYA 8.5.

Thank you in advance!
Best regards Veronika

hey veronika.

hmm, if i get you right, you want to cut a face in the middle right in the middle don't you? I mean, if you want to have a new face between two vertecises it should be that.
Si i would guess you should try the "Split Polygon Tool". Hopefully this works fine for you.

Cheers,
Poly.

You can add a face between vertexes using this tools:
1) Fill Hole command (in Polygons menu -> Mesh -> Fill Hole)
Sometimes after this command you have to add edges if your get non-planar N-gones. You can do this using this tool: Split Polygon Tool (in Polygons menu -> Edit Mesh -> Split Polygon Tool)
2) Create Polygon Tool (in Polygons menu -> Mesh -> Create Polygon Tool)
In this case use V button pressed on the keyboard to snap to the vertexes. And after that tool you have to combine your mesh with new polys you've created and merge separated vertexes.

So, maybe this help you! Good luck!
