Anyhow heres the full back story.....
Shai'a mirran was originaly part of an elite enclave called the brotherhood, a haven for magic users (maji) on the planet Devorshv. of course ordinary people hated maji and a state protected organisation was set up for their protection and advancement of tallents, of course this was the goverments method of enslaveing and controlling the maji. Shai'a was snached up after her parents were left for dead and grew up as part of the enclave, becoming one of the top students, all students who reach graduation level 23, round the age of 19 undergo an initiation procedure. Properganda says this is the age by which a student is granted the honour of outside work. In reality it is a horrifing method of mind control and behavioural conditioning meant to bring each student as a sort of drone for the empires bidding.
The few students survive this (driving them mentally inept-vegetable or suffer brain hemmorages) often escape, The brotherhood calls all who leave
as rogues and are to be killed on sight. Part of the training/indoctrination covers this. Shai'a mirran was one such student who survived and dissapered for several years, Later she returned with a band of rebels to slay the brotherhoods corrupt leader - succeded in doing so and thus liberated her fellow brethren. At age 22 she assisted in the ammendment of the maji protocols and teaches other students in a newly established monestary on the Isle of lost secrets. This is when a new regime arises on the mainland continent of Devorshv.
The Old emperor Kadylan actually had his conciousness removed to an AI computer, In the form of a humugous statue, (think the statue of liberty size) and conrolls his new legion of minions by means of nano augmentation. He sets them into two castes, the spectre caste - agents of war able to infiltrate and kill by almost any means, and The clericon ruling class headed by Kadylan's son.
Shaia wants to lead a group of heros to the land of Devorshv but the council of maji observing a strict non involvement treaty forbid it. She leaves the clans with her brother after being kidnapped, they meet up with two of the imperialist deserters Coran and Lianna (once were Nano agents and now married) and together with Shaia best friend, Koko, Uncle Antan and brother Ryu, slay the old emperor for good. the Resultant battle nearly ends in a apocalypse. The emperors Clericon son triggers a massive Sublimation (essentially petrifying anything the shockwave touches.)
If it wernt for Shaia and her gang destroying the 3 Sunshrike Crystals all life on the planet woud not have lived to tell this tale. . . .
As it goes i havnt scripted anything after this but i assumed it would be something a little diffrent like they build ships to search out their origin's i.e. a Earth post nuclear winter finding out their past was just as dark as the present and that earth is essentailly a half obliterated remnant flowing with molten oceans.
Maybe a little cliche'd but i still like it and my novel was based on it. |
