But I think it also depends on your Operating System right? When your OS can only support 4GB of physical RAM, i think the other 4GB RAM left will remain 'unused' right?
Here is the quote from Microsoft :

With Windows 2000 Professional and Server, the maximum amount of memory that can be supported is 4 GB. The maximum amount of memory that can be supported on Windows XP Professional and Windows Server 2003 is also 4 GB. However, Windows Server 2003, Enterprise Edition supports 32 GB of physical RAM and Windows Server 2003, Datacenter Edition supports 64 GB of physical RAM using the PAE feature

Yes, the Intel Xeon is very expensive and usually used for server only, not for normal Personal Computer. So far I never heard anyone using this for personal usage, since its so expensive and maybe 'not needed' for them. I think a Quad/Dual core 'normal' processor should work quite well (make sure you have a good processor, if not, even you have good graphic card and good number of RAM, your processor will not be able to handle them and they remain 'unused')
Thanks :)
