i know if you just put a bitt effor inn this its not so hard, have modeled a pritey nice Big Ben before.

ok ok maybe not that good but the shape is like a box from the bottom and to the topp. even on the topp it still have the box shape:)

clue. ruffly make the overal shape out from a box. (extrude and bevle) and after that it's just getting the details on place:)

i think a good looking clock is the hard part but maybe the part that can give you the stepp ahead and to glory ;)
