| Great question and observation. I should explain this a little better since I did not do a good enough job in the beginning.
I have some very important personal goals and deadlines for a new site I am building that is a reflection of my personal art since all of my professional art is totally proprietory in nature and can not be shown to the public until after a certain time period. So the only way that I could do this competition is to incorporate at least some of it into what I am planning for my new portfolio site.
I had already promised my web designer at least some profile work of a character for the design we have been working on by this weekend. So I had to get at least the "bust" of the character done by yesterday.
I need further detail completed on the body by a deadline next month for the splash page which will actually have a short animation on it of the character breaking chains and roaring as he does.
I really wanted to do an idea for this competition that I could use to reflect my personal "best" at the time for my art site so I sort of worked the "lost" world idea into something else I had been thinking of doing and combined the two and changed it up so that I could actually do the competition. Otherwise I would never had the luxury of time for a competition like this.
I really hope this explains why I am doing so much initial character work on what will eventually be a massive cinematic that is environmentally based until the last few seconds which will be full of characters meeting there perceived doom therefore giving the impression of it truly being a lost civilization.
When I get back to the studio I will start putting up my storyboard so that you can see exactly what I have in mind:).
I realize this is a massive undertaking for a solo artist to endeavor to do in a matter of about three months, especially someone that has never done any of this type of work at all lol.
I believe that if one does not set a defined and measureable goal then one would never know if he was offtrack:). So I tend to set my goals high and hope I at least get half way there and you never know ... I just might make it. |
