| I would think that your idea falls with in the rules. The idea sounds awsome. Our goal is to produce a depiction of a lost world and it sounds you may have some history/story line to it. That just adds to the sense of it being lost to the mordern/present time.
seeing the working process. The sketches, renderings, artwork, and problems overcomed.. is what'll make it a true original art work.
and as long as your not sketching from book cover or someone's art rendering of the subject you have chosen.
I think would be fine, but the judges have the last say so....
