IDEA - Make a vehicle and environment for a real-time online game level.

Description: can be derived from anything

Suggested Time: 4 hours modelling vehicle, 8 hours modelling environment

Rules: No biting and no... well, just a little bit of swearing :)

Rather than focusing on modelling for rendering and animations, what about a challenge to see if people can apply their modelling and texturing skills for real-time game use.

1) Create a cool vehicle..

2) Create a fun environment for the vehicle, including basic gameplay.

The app below could easily be used, as it supports over 10 3D modelling apps, is COMPLETELY FREE for personal usage ( and for competition usage ), and reduces the steps required to export into a game into a single one.

Uniquely, the level can be viewed from a website ( using Shockwave 3D ), so it's ideal for showing content created for an online competition.

Here's an article on Macromedias website, explaining how to use it from scratch to make a level in under 30 minutes ( you guys will probably be able to do it in under 10! )

http://www.macromedia.com/devnet/dir.../3d_in_30.html

Here is a poster showing some levels created by previous 3D artist.

Download the app, read the tutorial and give it a go!

Hopefully it will be a fun speed modelling task. It should be possible to create a fun vehicle and environment in under a week, but splitting the task ( main car modelling and environment/gameplay ) to spread the time allowed might allow for some excellent levels!

Regards...
