| As far as I can see at the first wireframe, it seems that the vertices could use some welding. When you're trying to smooth things out, you probably get weird rounded shapes around that area. If you'd try welding (make a backup copy before doing that, I don't want your work being screwed up because of an advice) the areas where you can't see the space between vertices or hardly see the space between them, I think that the major problem is solved. It's hard to see a problem from one side of the wireframe. I hope that this helps. Tell me if it did or didn't..
